Opening Loss

By Nick C 11/28/2022, 10:45am CST

The opening game for the Sabers Boys Basketball team did not yield the results they were looking for. Picked preseason #10, and bringing back 6 Varsity contributors, they got off to a slow start, going down 9-1 early. Sabers trying to replace the missing scoring power of Will Gardner (Concussion) and the energy of  Matt Maciejewski (Team), never got in sync after cutting back into the lead late in 1st half.

After being down 9 at half, Milton started the second half on a 16-2 run before the Sabers got their first basket since the 1 minute mark in the 1st half. The deficit grew to 25 eventually and Milton never got a late game challenge. Milton starts 1-0 for the Badger Conference Sectional Qualifiers from 2021-22. Franklin drops its first, 0-1.

Highlights include Alex Mierow going 6/10 from the field and finishing with a Saber game high 16pts. Jacques Brooks pitched in 11 and Brandon Tilley with 11.

Sabers will look to bounce back vs Racine Case on Friday at home, 7pm.

Thanksgiving All Around

By Nick C 11/25/2022, 1:30pm CST

The Sabers celebrated Thanksgiving early this year by playing and dominating in a Varsity reserve game against Racine Park this Tuesday. As the Sabers found their rhythm on the court they were able to share their gratitude by hosting Racine Park to a potluck family style dinner after. Players from both teams were able to talk, eat and share in the spirit of the holiday. We here at Franklin hope you and your family had a wonderful holiday and hope to see you this Saturday in Oak Creek as we take on Milton to open our Varsity season!

Sabers Take Care Of The Competition

Dominant Start

From beginning to end the Sabers started the year off strong with dominant performances against last years, Bay Conference Champs, Xavier, a tough Janesville Parker team, and finally, a really tough, focused, basket getting game against the '21-'22 State Champions, Neenah. The Sabers defense took no mercy and proved to be the key factor in all three wins on Saturday. With strong scoring performances from multiple players, coupled with unrelenting defense, look for your Saber boys basketball team to make a huge splash in this upcoming season!

Scrimmage Test

The Sabers take on their first test early Saturday morning at Germantown High School . They start the scrimmage off against a solid Xavier squad that will be sure to give the defending SEC champs a good look. They then look to take on two very different teams in Racine Parker and Neenah.
